It is a good address. The apartment, however, is the reason to book. Cleveland House has been put together with a point of view. The living room is anchored by a floor-to-ceiling matte black shelving unit that runs the full width of the wall — styled with books, ceramics, and trailing plants — with a large abstract canvas opposite and two curved cream barrel chairs completing the composition. The black-framed sash windows with original shutters let in generous light and frame the period building across the street. The kitchen is equally considered: dark walnut cabinetry against white subway tiles, a raw-edge industrial dining table, and the same tall shuttered windows that give the whole apartment its character.This is not a space that was furnished to be inoffensive. It was designed to be remembered. This is a VI&CO residence — which means nothing is left to chance.
The living room doubles as a genuine design statement — and as a sofa bed for additional guests. The kitchen and dining area is one of the most striking rooms in the portfolio: open, light-filled, and properly equipped for cooking. The bedroom is deliberately calm by contrast — white linen, mirror-fronted wardrobes, a forest green pendant lamp, and a built-in desk nook tucked beneath the window. The bathroom has a full bath with rainfall shower and quality amenities throughout.
